House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) joined New York Mayor Bill de Blasio on Wednesday to advocate for the passage of the “American Dream and Promise Act of 2019.”

The bill, also known as HR 6, was introduced to support Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and other immigrants by authorizing “the cancellation of removal and adjustment of status of certain aliens.”

At the event held in New York on Wednesday, Pelosi affirmed she was very proud to stand up for immigration reform alongside de Blasio, community activists, and many New York House Democrats.

Pelosi has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, claiming that he, alongside congressional Republicans, will “continue to push a hateful, harmful anti-immigrant agenda that instills fear in our communities and weakens our country.”

During her speech, the speaker connected immigration to her personal life as an Italian-American, recalling the struggles and discrimination that early Italian immigrants faced.

Pelosi then shifted to praising others who shared their own immigration stories, expressing her discontent for the implementation of current policies causing people to be forced to leave the U.S.

“It’s ridiculous, people have been here a long time, contributed to the greatness of America,” she said. “[…] So this legislation, the Dream and now the ‘Dream and Promise Act,’ is urgent for our country.”

“Our immigrant community makes America more American,” she tweeted. “By passing [H.R. 6], the Dream & Promise Act, we can allow communities nationwide to fully benefit from all these patriotic individuals have to offer.”

Many New York House Democrats also spoke in favor of passing HR 6, including Reps. Adriano Espaillat, Jerry Nadler Carolyn Maloney, Yvette Clarke, and host of the event, Rep. Nydia Velázquez.

HR 6 is designed – obviously – to legalize Marxist #44’s ILLEGAL Executive Order for DACA; an effort he was unable to get Congress to pass. #44 then made it HIS law while knowing and saying it was probably illegal in order to import more Illegal Aliens and covertly expand the Dem’s voter rolls. Being a House Bill, it probably won’t fly in the Senate and definitely won’t be signed by Trump. MORE wasted time and effort by the Socialists in D.C.
