The president was scheduled to meet with Democratic leadership on Wednesday over a proposed infrastructure bill. Instead, Trump stormed out of the meeting after referring to Pelosi’s earlier comments about how he’s “engaged in a cover-up” over the Mueller report.
“Today was the day he was supposed to tell us how he would be willing to support and pay for all of that,” Pelosi later said on CNN following the brief meeting.
“Instead, in an orchestrated, almost to an ‘oh, poor baby‘ point of view, he came into the room and said that I said he was engaged in a cover-up and he couldn’t possibly engage in a conversation on infrastructure as long as we are investigating him.”
Trump confirmed the interaction in a press appearance at the White House rose garden immediately after the meeting and followed up with a tweet, writing, “You can’t investigate and legislate simultaneously, — it just doesn’t work that way.”
….But they really want a do-over! You can’t investigate and legislate simultaneously – it just doesn’t work that way. You can’t go down two tracks at the same time. Let Chuck, Nancy, Jerry, Adam and all of the rest finish playing their games….

“We’ve been investigating him since we took the majority, so there’s nothing in that,” she doubled down. “And then he had a press conference in the rose garden with all of these visuals that obviously were planned long before I said most currently that he was engaged in a cover-up. ”
