The criticism keeps coming for Representative Ilhan Omar over the anti-Semitic comments she made.

Vice President Mike Pence is the latest critic of the Democratic lawmaker, taking to Twitter to call for discipline because of the comments.

“[Ilhan Omar] tweets were a disgrace & her apology was inadequate,” tweeted Pence. “Anti-Semitism has no place in the United States Congress, much less the Foreign Affairs Committee. Those who engage in anti-Semitic tropes should not just be denounced, they should face consequences for their words.”

As IJR previously reported, Omar’s tweets criticized those who questioned her past tweets about Israel.

According to a report, Pence called for her committee assignments to be taken away.

President Donald Trump also pushed for her to step down from her committee assignments due to the comments.

“I think she should be ashamed of herself,” Trump said, saying she should quit “Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.”

Omar did apologize for the tweets, saying that she understood how her words could have been taken the wrong way.

“Anti-Semitism is real and I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes,” Omar said in a statement. “We have to always be willing to step back and think through criticism, just as I expect people to hear me when others attack me for my identity. This is why I unequivocally apologize.”

However, it is uncertain if she will face any further discipline for her words.
