A plurality of voters said that President Donald Trump’s presidency has made them feel more patriotic, according to an Emerson College poll released Friday.

Of those surveyed, 39% said Trump’s presidency had strengthened their feelings of patriotism, according to the poll. Meanwhile, 34% of voters said his presidency had no effect on how patriotic they feel and only 27% said it weakened their feelings of patriotism, the poll found.

Two thirds — 67% — of Republicans said Trump’s presidency has made them feel more patriotic, while 45% of Democrats said it has weakened how patriotic they feel, according to the survey. The poll found that independent voters were more divided, with 31% saying Trump’s presidency has increased how patriotic they feel, while 30% said it weakened their patriotic feelings, and 39% said it did not have an effect on their feelings of patriotism.

“Americans finally feel safe, proud, and free after four years of Joe Biden’s incompetence. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, America is hot again!” White House assistant press secretary Taylor Rogers told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement.

Trump’s approval rating was at a statistical tie — with 45% saying they approved of the job he is doing as president and 46% saying they disapproved, according to the poll.

The president has championed some patriotic events since returning to the White House, including celebrating the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army with a military parade on June 14. In January, Trump signed an executive order establishing a White House task force to help plan a celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

The Emerson College Polling national survey was conducted from June 24 to 25. The sample of U.S. active registered voters, n=1,000, has a credibility interval, similar to a poll’s margin of error, of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The data sets were weighted by gender, education, race, age, party registration, and region based on U.S. Census parameters and voter file data.
