Politico is facing accusations it is trying to cover for Vice President Kamala Harrisâ past positions amid her current run for president.
On Monday, CNNâs Andy Kaczynski shared a screen shot a Politico article with a headline that read, âHarris campaign pledges she wonât ban fracking after Trump accusation.â
âThis is a bizarre framing â itâs not an accusation or allegation. She said it on record numerous times in 2019,â Kaczynski.
He added, âThe news is that she just recently changed her position publicly.â
The screen shot featured an excerpt that said former President Donald Trump made âallegationsâ the vice president supports banning fracking.
Several users criticized the framing:

Meanwhile, one user shared a video from Harrisâ failed presidential bid in which she explicitly stated she is in favor of banning fracking:
The headline has since been updated to exclude the portion about a âTrump accusation.â
Meanwhile, the excerpt states, âKamala Harrisâ shift on fracking comes after GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump raised her 2019 stance calling for banning the oil and gas drilling technique.â
