Amid his White House press conference to discuss the signing of the border security deal and declaring a national emergency in the hopes of curbing illegal immigration and drug cartels while seeking other sources for border wall funds, President Donald Trump shared his “great respect” for the Angel families.

On Friday, the president is set to sign a bill that includes $1.375 billion for wall funds, far less than his desired $5.7 billion, resulting in a declaration of a national emergency.

“We’re going to confront the national security crisis on our southern border — and we’re going to do it one way or the other,” President Trump said.

During the conference, Trump shared his “great respect” for Angel families. He told them to stand up and show the American people the reality of illegal immigration, as those families have lost a loved one due to the issue.

Several Angel moms displayed photos of the people they’ve lost, one of a mother’s daughter and another person showed a photo of their husband.

“I want to thank in particular the Angel moms and dads for being here,” President Trump said.

“Thank you very much. We have great respect for you. Our real country, the people that really love our country, they love you. So I just want you to know that. I know how hard you fight and I know how hard a fight you’re having.”

President Trump also slammed Democrats for seeking to defund the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and said he’ll do “just the opposite of that” and take care of the law enforcement.

“Believe me, our country loves you and they respect you greatly,” he told the law enforcement, adding he is giving them “hundreds of millions of dollars” of surplus military equipment.

If it isn’t stopped by Congress, the president declaring the national emergency would allow him to put other funds toward constructing a wall.

“I ran on a very simple slogan, ‘Make America Great Again,'” President Trump said. “… Very hard to make America great again but we’ve done a fantastic job but we haven’t been given the equipment, we haven’t been given the walls.”

So, if we spend billions building walls at the border, and it will keep children alive, WHY are we not building a wall at the southern border of every school in America to prevent the next Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, etc…?
