Protesters Heckle Florida Attorney General Outside ‘Anti-Bullying’ Mr. Rogers Movie

On Friday night, protesters chased Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi from the Tampa Theatre, where she saw the documentary on Mr. Rogers, titled, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

Organize Florida member Timothy Heberlein posted a video of the encounter on Twitter, where Bondi can be seen walking away as shouting protesters follow her to the parking lot.

“You’re a horrible person!” one protester shouts in the video.

Watch the video below:

“What would Mr. Rogers think about you and your legacy in Florida?” The Tampa Bay Times reported labor organizer Maria José Chapa shouted. “Taking away health insurance from people with pre-existing conditions, Pam Bondi!”

She added, “Shame on you!”

Heberlein told the Tampa Bay Times that the protest wasn’t planned but that when they saw Bondi, they decided to say something.

Before the movie started, a protester reportedly tried to ask Bondi “difficult questions” about the Affordable Care Act, which caused the attorney general to call the police.

“We were in a movie about anti-bullying and practicing peace and love and tolerance and accepting of people for their differences,” Bondi told the Tampa Bay Times.

She added those principles are what “Mr. Rogers is all about” and explained that everyone believes in free speech but that “there’s a big difference there.”

According to Bondi’s spokesman, Whitney Ray, the video that was shared on Twitter was the “least aggressive portion of the attack.”

Ray told the Tampa Bay Times that during previous encounters, “large men” spit in her face and blocked her exit.

Chapa called Ray’s version of the events a “lie,” and Heberlein explained that if someone refuses to meet with them, they’re going to meet them in public.

“Sorry, not sorry,” he added.

The encounter with Bondi comes in the wake of two other prominent GOP women being targeted in public over their involvement with the Republican Party.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was recently asked to leave a restaurant because of her work with President Donald Trump’s administration.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was also recently chased by protesters from a restaurant and then had a rally hosted outside of her Alexandria, Virginia, townhome.
