‘Stronger Each Day’: Rand Paul Shares Recovery From Surgery Due to 2017 Attack, Slams Political Hatred

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is letting everyone know that he is getting “stronger each day,” as he’s making his first interview post-surgery on his lungs, which is the result of an attack that occurred in November of 2017.

Paul was attacked nearly two years ago by a then-neighbor at his Kentucky home, which resulted in six broken ribs and three displaced rib fractures. The attack by the neighbor, Rene Boucher, was apparently over his anger of Paul’s lawnmower. Boucher had pleaded guilty and served a 30-day sentence in prison in June for the attack.

Less than two weeks since his lung surgery, the Kentucky Senator is told Fox News early Thursday that he had to undergo surgery because “I had worsening pulmonary symptoms and the x-rays and the cat scan was showing the damaged area of the lungs was actually showing up in a larger fashion and growing.”

Paul says he’s working on overcoming the pain and getting his breathing back to normal. However, he’s also apparently faced with continued hatred on social media.

“It is just a matter of overcoming and getting beyond this, and we’ve been trying to do it for almost two years now. One of the disturbing things, though, is to see there is still so much hatred out there. When announced that I was having surgery and thousands of people on Twitter swarming to wish me that I’d either died or someone would assault me again. I am perplexed that this is somehow supposed to be a right-wing phenomenon but I see thousands of people on Twitter, this left-wing mob wishing that I were dead.”

Paul later went on to blast the “narrative the left is bringing to us,” which is that “everything is Donald Trump’s fault.”

“All the rhetoric, they say it’s all violence and the whole world is President Trump’s fault and yet the man who attacked me was known on the Internet, his social media postings were violent, he talked about doing violence to the president. That’s completely ignored because the media wanted to develop a narrative, […] an altercation or fight. There was no fight. I had my back turned with noise-cancellation headphones on and I was attacked, and six of my ribs broken before I saw the attacker […] until after the attack was over. People want to make it out [as], ‘Oh, it was just this little dispute,’ but a lot of that came from the other side trying to get a lesser sentence.”

As for his attacker’s 30-day sentence, Paul declared that’s “not enough” time as “30 days is kind of what you give a shoplifting person or a very, very minor crime.”

Watch Paul’s interview below:

As IJR Red previously reported, Paul had to limit his August activities due to the surgery and hopes to return in September.

WHAT does Paul neighbor’s issues with the lawnmower have to do with Paul’s politics? If his neighbor’s social media posts threatened violence against Trump, did Paul report it to the Secret Service? Did they investigate? Is the patio McConnell tripped on over his politics too? It would appear the KY Senators need to drink more milk.

I would like to think that goes beyond politics. As much as I can’t stand his politics (and his hair style) he was severely injured, and I wish him and his family all the best during his recovery. Why didn’t that doofus neighbor chop up the danged lawn-mower? Sheesh!!

As much I don’t like some other peoples’ opinions, I would not physically attack a person. In fact, I wouldn’t even snatch Mad Maxine Watters’ wig off her head.

Thirty days in jail for Rene Boucher for nearly killing his neighbor by tackling him from behind, a completely innocent and unsuspecting man who was mowing his lawn? Were Boucher a Republican and the Senator a Democrat Boucher would still be in jail and we would be hearing about it every day from the Leftist news media.
