Report: Jared Kushner Is a ‘Significant Person of Interest’ in Russia Investigation

A combination of reports that surfaced on Friday afternoon indicates that Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, is a “significant person of interest” in the investigation into Russia’s election interference.

Initially, The Washington Post reported that the investigation “has identified a current White House official as a significant person of interest.” Later in the same article, it is written that “the senior White House adviser under scrutiny by investigators is someone close to the president.”

The wording here is important. as New York Magazine’s Yashar Ali tweeted:

52 minutes later, Ali tweeted that four separate sources had confirmed that the identity of the White House official named in the Post report was Kushner:

Meanwhile, the Post’s sources added that the “intensity” of the investigation will be ramping up in the coming weeks as more witnesses are interviewed and more subpoenas are issued. Investigators “remain keenly interested” in estranged members of the Trump team like former campaign chair Paul Manafort and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer issued the following statement to the Post:

As the president has stated before, a thorough investigation will confirm that there was no collusion between the campaign and any foreign entity.
