In an interview on Fox News that aired over the weekend, outgoing Energy Secretary Rick Perry told the hosts of “Fox & Friends” that he believes President Donald Trump is a “chosen one” sent by God to lead the country at this moment in time.
"Mr. President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one and I said, ‘You were.’ I said, ‘If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government," Rick Perry.— Nicolle: A Girl of the Streets🌊 (@girl_nicolle) November 25, 2019

“God used imperfect people all through history. King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect,” Perry told host Ed Henry, adding, “I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one and I said, ‘You were.'”
He added, “If you are a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet and our government.”
The former Republican presidential candidate and contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” says he gave Trump a one-page memo “about a month ago” about the Old Testament kings so he could see how other leaders have suffered in the past. One of the show’s hosts, Pete Hegseth, said after the clip was aired that the criticism endured by Trump “is unlike really what any other mortal could understand.”
Anchor Ed Henry said Perry also told him that he believes former President Barack Obama was also sent by God “for that moment and that time.”
In the wide-ranging interview, Perry also discussed the ongoing impeachment inquiry, saying he believes the president will “muscle right on through” the hearings. Perry, who has been under scrutiny for his role in the Ukraine scandal, announced that he was resigning from his post as Energy Secretary in October just as the impeachment process was getting underway.
“I don’t see the American people buying into this thing,” Perry said.
