Cory Booker Rolls Out Sweeping Gun Control Plan — RNC Blasts His ‘Big Government Grab’ at 2A Rights

2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) rolled out his comprehensive gun control plan, which includes sweeping measures to restrict gun ownership — and the Republican National Committee (RNC) isn’t impressed with his “big government grab.”

On Monday, Booker unveiled what his campaign called the “most sweeping gun violence prevention plan ever put forth by a presidential candidate.” It includes a national gun registry that would require first-time and current gun owners to obtain a federal license verified by the FBI.

In addition to the national gun license program, Booker’s plan also calls for universal background checks on those purchasing firearms, banning assault weapons and high-capacity firearm magazines, and modernizing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“I am sick and tired of hearing thoughts and prayers for the communities that have been shattered by gun violence — it is time for bold action,” he explained. “My plan to address gun violence is simple — we will make it harder for people who should not have a gun to get one.”

The RNC, however, fired back at Booker’s idea in a statement:

Just when you think the 2020 field could not get anymore out there, Cory Booker comes in with a plan to use executive action filled with new restrictions and permits on law-abiding gun-owners. Votes across the country will see this as another big government grab on our constitutional rights.

National Rifle Association (NRA) spokeswoman Dana Loesch also sounded off on Booker in a series of tweets criticizing his plan.

She also called him out for refusing to say whether he’d jail Americans who failed to surrender firearms that they had lawfully purchased but would effectively be banned if he’s president while explaining his policy on CNN.

As IJR Red reported, 2020 Democrats appear to have found common ground in their desire to target the Second Amendment and to limit the rights of gun owners, as several of them have revealed their plans to tackle gun violence by stripping gun owners of their access to many firearms.

What do you think?

My My Cory Booker the brain dead idiot. License first time and current gun owners. Turn in legally owned guns or face jail time. When did you leave N. Korea you maggot. Pass the take away law and see how many of my legal guns you end up with. Haven’t shot one of them including rifles, or pistols in a few years but that’s beside the point. They are my right to own and own them I will. Booker is not really a problem. The abortion will never get the nomination as he is bottom tier.

Same old bovine excrement; different day. These Nazi-wannabes have NOTHING to offer the American people; so they dug up their old stand by BS – “gun control” – to target law abiding citizens. Booker’s plan includes everything but the word “confiscation” which comes after gun registration and universal background checks. To Booker, Swalwell, et al, I say: MOLON LABE. Oh, and bring your favorite body bags.

The picture says it all. “I’m not the first?!?” “T-Bone’s gonna be disappointed.”

SwelledHead from California already promised confiscation and jail. At least Shmucktacus didn’t follow Duke Nukem’s example by threatening to mass-murder American citizens.
