Roger Stone Laughs and Defends Himself While Facing Boos, ‘Lock Him Up’ Chants Outside of Court House

Long-time Trump associate Roger Stone appeared to be taking all his legal troubles in stride while appearing outside of a Florida courthouse after his arrest on Friday.

While facing loud boos from people nearby, Stone smiled and thanked the crowd. He also recalled one of his best-known mantras: “As I have always said, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”

His comments came just after special counsel Robert Mueller issued a multi-count indictment alleging, in part, that he obstructed an official proceeding. A federal judge reportedly granted him a $250,000 bail:

While appearing outside of the courthouse, Stone denied Mueller’s allegations that he lied to the House Intelligence Committee when discussing potential communication with Wikileaks.

Watch his comments below:

“Any error I made in my testimony would be both immaterial and without intent,” he said as the crowd chanted “Lock him up! Lock him up!”

As IJR previously noted, Stone’s attorney similarly released a statement claiming that his client didn’t lie but honestly forgot about relevant details.

“There was no Russian collusion, it’s a clear attempt at silencing Roger,” his attorney said. “This was an investigation they started as about Russian collusion and now they’re charging Roger Stone with lying to Congress about something he honestly forgot about, and as Roger has stated publicly before, he will fight the charges.”

Stone, along with President Donald Trump, blasted Mueller’s investigation and argued that after years of probing, it hadn’t found any evidence of Russian collusion.

“After a two-year inquisition, the charges today relate in no way to Russian collusion, Wikileaks collaboration, or any other illegal-acting connection with the 2016 campaign,” Stone, a former campaign aide, said.

Stone also reportedly vowed to challenge the allegations in court. The charges came just after Stone told Fox News that he faced financial devastation due to the legal costs he already incurred without even receiving any formal charges.
