Ronan Farrow Was Scheduled to Interview Hillary — Then She Found Out About His Harvey Weinstein Reporting

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ronan Farrow claimed Wednesday former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton walked back a scheduled interview with him after her team learned the reporter was working on a major exposé about disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein.

Weinstein, a friend of the Clinton family, had in the past donated tens of thousands of dollars to various Clinton campaigns. And it was Farrow, writing for The New Yorker, who penned the bombshell story about Weinstein‘s sexual exploits.

Farrow, who spoke with every living former secretary of state for his new book, “War on Peace: The End of Diplomacy and the Decline of American Influence,” was hoping to interview Clinton, who served as the nation’s top diplomat under former President Barack Obama.

In an interview Wednesday with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, himself a former Clinton staffer, Farrow was asked what surprised him most during his discussions with America’s policy leaders.

The journalist told Stephanopoulos his greatest difficulty was speaking with some politicians — Clinton, in particular.

“Hillary Clinton had scheduled an interview while I was at the height of the Weinstein reporting, and her folks got in touch said, ‘We hear you’re working on a big story,'” Farrow recalled. “[They] sounded very concerned — tried to cancel that interview.”

Stephanopoulos told Farrow he was “surprised” to hear Clinton’s team tried to duck the interview “over the Weinstein stuff.”

While the initial meeting was canceled, Mediate reported, Farrow was eventually able to reschedule an interview with Clinton.
