White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shared in an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network (CBN) that she believes God wanted Donald Trump to be president of the United States.
“I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times, and I think that He wanted Donald Trump to become president,” she said when asked to give her “spiritual perspective” on the president. “And that’s why he’s there, and I think he has done a tremendous job in supporting a lot of the things that people of faith really care about a bit.”

Sanders said that she doesn’t agree with the Democrats on their stance on morality, especially when it comes to building the southern border wall, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said was an immoral act.
The press secretary claimed it’s “very hard” to listen to Democrats discuss morality because they support abortion rights and suggested taking “so help you God” out of witness oaths.
“The idea that protecting the people of your country, which is the fundamental duty of being president of the United States, would in some way be immoral is a ridiculous charge and something that I think probably — I would think Speaker Pelosi may even regret making that comment because she’s seen how ridiculous that sounds and, you know, how the evidence is so contrary to that comment.”
Trump heavily relies on evangelical support in his base, and Sanders’ interview with CBN is another move to appeal to those voters. The press secretary was confident that Trump would be re-elected, saying that God will support Trump for the next six years.
