MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough laid into White Hosue press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Thursday morning for, according to him, picking up President Donald Trump’s “habit” of “lying.”
During Wednesday’s press briefing, Sanders was asked about comments made by soon-to-be-resigned National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster regarding the administration’s toughness on Russia and seemed to spin them in a more positive light.
“Here we have one more example of Sarah Huckabee Sanders lying,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.”
“McMaster never said that no one’s been tougher on Russia than [President] Donald Trump. That is a lie. Full stop. Sarah Huckabee Sanders lied yesterday again. That’s a lie.”

Frequent “Morning Joe” guest Katty Kay from the BBC also weighed in on Sanders’ comments, saying it appears the press secretary has picked up Trump’s “habit” of lying to the press.
“It’s interesting to see Sarah Huckabee Sanders picking up that habit,” Kay said. “Picking up the habit of saying something that is clearly not the case as if it were actually true, and if it were actually fact.”
“And you get the impression in the White House, at the moment, that the president is increasingly surrounding himself with people who are prepared to take that line, who are prepared to take Donald Trump’s view of the world even if what they are saying is not actually true.”
Scarborough then reminded viewers that former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly called Trump a moron because he wouldn’t listen to his top advisers regarding the recent history “in the post-war world.”
“He says he disagrees and so I guess now he’s surrounding himself with people who are going to agree with him no matter what,” he added.
