Chuck Schumer: Stacey Abrams Showed Trump ‘What Real Leadership’ Looks Like

Stacey Abrams

Stacey Abrams’ State of the Union response took a fraction of the time that President Donald Trump spent on his speech, but Democrats were in agreement that the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate stole the show.

“Stacey Abrams showed the president what real leadership was last night,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told “CBS This Morning” on Wednesday. “She was compassionate, she was caring, she talked about the plight of her family, the plight of the American family. She knows the American dream is out of reach for too many people and fading for others.”

Abrams began her 11-minute address with a story about her childhood and her father, and she proceeded to tie it into the policies and politics that Democrats are currently pushing.

“Our power and strength as Americans lives in our hard work and our belief in more,” Abrams said Tuesday night. “My family understood firsthand that while success is not guaranteed, we live in a nation where opportunity is possible. But we do not succeed alone.”

Trump gave an 82-minute-long speech that began with a message of unity but dissolved into pushing conservative ideals and throwing aside liberal ones.

“Stacey Abrams achieved in a matter of minutes something Donald Trump failed to do in over an hour — to embrace and give voice to the spirit and core values that make America great,” former Vice President Joe Biden tweeted late Tuesday night.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was in agreement.

“[Abrams] did a masterful job,” she wrote on Twitter following the address. “A perfect counter-weight to [Trump’s] out-of-touch speech.”

Abrams mentioned multiple issues in her speech that Trump failed to, such as climate change, gun violence, and LGBTQ issues. Democrats took notice. Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) thanked Abrams for mentioning gun violence.

The former gubernatorial candidate did mention Trump, first blaming him for the 35-day partial government shutdown. But Abrams ended her speech on a hopeful note for the president.

“So even as I am very disappointed by the president’s approach to our problems, I still don’t want him to fail,” she said. “But we need him to tell the truth and to respect his duties and respect the extraordinary diversity that defines America.”

The problem with women is their tendency to be petty. I had hoped that women in power would have shown themselves to have been above that. Sadly, they did not. The rolling eyes of Nancy Pelosi is a perfect example. As a woman, that makes mesas.

Abrams gave a tame, establishment response.

Since IJR totally ignored Bernie Sanders’ broadcast, give a listen to his response. That’s how you do it!

So a “real leader” according to Schumer is a loser who demands recounts, complains about vote tampering as her Democrat colleagues scramble to stuff the recount box with illegitimate absentee ballots, and despite all this cheating on her side, STILL couldn’t win, even with Oprah Winfrey pulling her over the finish line with every ounce of lard packed in her fat, rich, ass! Got it, Chuck!
