According to Catholic News Agency, the Daytime Emmy Award winner was received into the Catholic church by Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, Bishop Robert Barron on Sunday evening.
âIn the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is âsealed with the gift of the Holy Spiritâ and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ,â via the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
On Wednesday, Brother Alexander Rodriguez, Capuchin friar and LaBeoufâs confirmation sponsor, told Catholic News Agency that he desires to become a deacon âsometime in the future.â
Additionally, Rodriguez shared LaBeouf contemplated becoming a diaconate while filming his 2022 movie âPadre Pioâ where he played Padre Pio, an Italian priest and saint in the Roman Catholic church.
âHe just spontaneously said, âI want to become a deacon,â and he still feels that way,â Rodriguez said.
In June 2023, LaBeouf revealed how playing in the movie impacted him spiritually, via the National Catholic Register.
âI pray before work; I pray before jobs; I pray before selections. I have given up the master-creator of the universe, the supreme artist-creator. I know now that there is no such thing as a âcreatorâ â weâre all making mix tapes,â the âTransformersâ actor shared.
Furthermore, he declared, âThereâs only one Creator, and weâre all curators of his creation. I give all glory to God.â
âI know that Christ is with me, and Pio is with me. I move with much less fear, and I think Iâm a better artist because of it,â he said.
