Tom Steyer’s Group Runs Bizarre ‘Mother’s Day’ Ad on Warning Signs Your Child Is Influenced by the GOP

For Mother’s Day 2018, an anti-Trump group backed by Tom Steyer released an ad in which a mother discusses the warning signs that her son got involved with the Republican Party.

With sentimental music playing in the background, the mother recounted how her son engaged in behavior like stealing from people “less fortunate” than him in middle school, holding a “baby killer” sign, and hanging out with white supremacists.

The video also took a dig at President Donald Trump, as the mother explained that her son frequently came home from college because he never learned how to do his own laundry.

The video then showed images of her son with a red T-shirt bearing Trump’s name.

“It wasn’t until I met his college buddies that I realized it was too late,” the mother said before viewers saw an image of the Tiki torch-wielding white nationalists who protested in Charlottesville, Virginia last year.

“Only a mother can catch the signs early. This Mother’s Day, talk to your child about the GOP,” the mother said before guzzling a martini and lamenting how she didn’t have a talk with her son.

NextGen America, a liberal organization founded and led by billionaire Tom Steyer, put out the video earlier this week.

Steyer poured millions of dollars into electoral races, fundraised for former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and called for Trump’s impeachment. In an ad promoting the site needtoimpeach.com, Steyer said:

“He’s brought us to the brink of nuclear war, obstructed justice at the FBI, and in direct violation of the Constitution, he’s taken money from foreign governments, he threatened to shut down news organizations that report the truth.”

Trump appeared to respond by calling Steyer “wacky & totally unhinged”:
