Ted Cruz Roasts ‘Terrified’ Pelosi on SOTU: She’s Afraid of the POTUS Speaking Directly to Americans

With the upcoming State of the Union scheduled for January 29 and no end in sight for the partial government shutdown, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) wrote to the president and suggested moving his address. Now, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is slamming “terrified” Pelosi for being afraid of President Donald Trump speaking directly to the American people.

In the letter to President Trump, Pelosi remarked how due to “security concerns,” the president should consider pushing back the date of the State of the Union or provide it in written form to Congress on the set date, as IJR News reported.

She then told CNN it was a “housekeeping matter in the Congress of the United States, so we can honor the responsibility of the invitation we extended to the President.”

“He can make it from the Oval Office if he wants,” she added.

Despite Pelosi’s statement on furloughed workers within the U.S. Secret Service under the Department of Homeland Security, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said the department is “fully prepared” to secure the event.

When asked by a reporter about the postponing of Trump’s upcoming State of the Union, Cruz swiped at Pelosi for being “terrified” of her “extreme left-wing base” and that “the position of Congressional Democrats in this shutdown is objectively unreasonable.”

He went on to explain how top Democrats have previously voted for a wall along the southern border.

“They have right now shut the government down to stop 234 miles of border wall,” Cruz said. “I don’t know how you explain that you voted in favor of 350 miles but you shut the government down to stop 234 miles. That is incoherent.”

“The honest answer: It’s not a substantive disagreement; it’s that they’re terrified of their extreme left wing, who hates Trump. And that’s why we’re having a shutdown.”

The Texan senator explained Pelosi doesn’t want the State of the Union because it’s “an enormous platform for the president to speak directly to the American people, and she doesn’t want people focusing on the substance of this issue.”

“She wants their information to come from the mainstream media rather than the president,” he added.

“The president has said he’s willing to compromise; he’s willing to negotiate but we need to secure the border. The president’s right on that. Their position is not defensible so of course she’s trying to hide from the cameras and I don’t think we should let her.”

Watch the video below:

Cruz is among others who have continued to support the president’s proposed $5.7 to construct a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in order to curb illegal immigration and improve border security.

As IJR Red reported, other Republicans have called for President Trump to make his way to the Senate for his State of the Union address if Pelosi continues to “poke” at the president.

This shut down is simply a power play on Pelosi’s part, she got the title of speaker because she told her hater base that she would stand against Trump at every turn and not back down. A vote should be taken of all members and Pelosi should be removed as speaker because she is in it for herself and her cohorts not the best interests of America.

Cruz’s logic tears Pelosi, Schumer and the rest of the gangs’ platform to shreds. Then of course, logic has become something that doesn’t exist in the liberal’s playbook anymore.

The Democrats are ruining this country. They can’t control a Trump and I’m glad. He’s the best a President we’ve had in a long time. We need border security. Build the wall. The Dems just want to increase their voting base. They should all be hung for treason. Trump should give his speech on the
29th. Pelosi has a wall around her house. Walls have been built since Biblical times for security purposes. I guess the Democrats think they know more than G d

Now, Trump will speak to the people, including those who elected him. This terrifies the “sausage makers” in Congress. Good.

To her credit, AOC has leveraged this to mobilize her base. Nancy (or her team) were smart enough to notice this and leverage this to appoint so many “frosh” congress persons to committee memberships. This has upset more ‘traditional’ Dims who were waiting their turns. (shades or allowing illegals to jump ahead of those going through the process)

Demograpics dictate politics, without a real leader. Trump leveraged Twitter. (notice the dearth of tweets from Nancy or Chucky or their teams?)

I keep hearing how intelligent Cruz is, so how stupid does he believe we are? If Trump “wants to speak directly to the American people,” WHY can he ONLY do so in the US House of Representatives? The letter suggested postponing until the government is reopen or speaking from the Oval Office. Can’t speak directly to the American people from the White House? I still favor an auditorium setting filled with hundreds of supporters. He looks stiff when he reads from a teleprompter.

Not only build the wall but take Chapo’s money to do it. It doesn’t have to cost Americans anything. Go Ted Cruz.
