UPDATE [5/31/17, 1:34 p.m. ET]:

Kathy Griffin has been fired as co-host of CNN's New Year's Eve special.

Kathy Griffin has successfully found a way to anger both conservatives and liberals with one picture.

The longtime comedienne decided to post a picture of her holding the bloody and decapitated head of President Donald Trump — and it set the internet on fire.

Here's the image, which was first released by TMZ:

Griffin managed to outrage President Trump, Chelsea Clinton, and others, all of whom took to Twitter to show their dismay:

Not long after the image was released, Griffin posted an apology on her Twitter account after calling it “art”:

Now, the 56-year-old is facing some potentially serious repercussions for her actions. CNN is allegedly reviewing her New Year's Eve co-hosting job.

A CNN spokesman told Mediaite:

“We found what she did disgusting and offensive. We are pleased to see she has apologized and asked that the photos be taken down. We are evaluating New Year’s Eve and have made no decisions at this point.”

As seen in the tweets above, Anderson Cooper, who would be hosting alongside her, also strongly condemned the gruesome photo. CNN has not made any decision on the matter as of yet, but at least both sides of the political spectrum can agree on one thing: you probably shouldn't take a picture with the decapitated head of the President of the United States.
