Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s 11-year-old son, was watching television on Tuesday when the now-infamous photo of Kathy Griffin holding a bloody Trump head appeared on the screen, “family sources” reportedly told TMZ.
Immediately after seeing the disturbing photo, Barron Trump reportedly got scared and screamed, “Mommy, Mommy!” The young boy initially thought “something terrible happened” to his dad, according to TMZ.
"He's 11. He doesn't know who Kathy Griffin is and the head she was holding resembled his dad,” one of the sources said.
TMZ founder Harvey Levin personally knows Trump, which is likely how he was able to get the new details about the photo's impact on Barron. Trump quietly met with Levin in the Oval Office in March.
President Trump tweeted on Wednesday that his kids, “especially” Barron, were “having a hard time” dealing with Griffin’s photo.
“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself,” he wrote.
Griffin has since apologized for going “too far,” but the viral image is now all over the internet and has clearly been aired on TV, as well.
