President Trump's announcement that transgender people cannot serve in the U.S. military opened up a bevy of reactions, from the press, from Hollywood, and from the Twitterati.

Now, it's time to hear from a wounded warrior, an American who has the experience of serving in combat and personally sacrificing for the good of the nation.

In a series of scorching, but well-reasoned, tweets, veteran and author J.R. Salzman weighed in on Trump's transgender ban — and why many U.S. soldiers may not be reflexively opposed to the restriction. It is worth reading to the very end.

Agree or disagree, we need to listen to all of our soldiers and veterans about such military policies, not just armchair pundits, celebrities, and gossip-mongers.
