It was the tweet seen around the world: a pornographic video, “favorited” by Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) official Twitter account, and attributed to the honest mistake of a staffer.

And despite the fact that hundreds of square miles of Cruz's home state are still water-logged and thousands of his constituents are displaced from their homes — many of which were completely destroyed by Hurricane Harvey — when CNN's Dana Bash got the chance to have a few words with Cruz on Wednesday, most of those words were about porn.

Bash asked Cruz several times about the tweet, and he was adamant about two things — that it was an honest mistake, and that he had no intention of giving up the name of the staffer:

But as the conversation went on, things got ... weird. When Cruz, who said that he was one of the “most libertarian people” in the Senate, claimed that people “ought to be able to do whatever they want to do in their own bedrooms,” Bash interrupted with a question that even she “couldn't believe” that she was about to ask:

So there you have it, folks. Ted Cruz is OK with you buying sex toys. Just don't tag him expecting a “favorite.”
