News broke on Thursday that Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is being accused of sexual harassment that spans decades.
The New York Times reports it has uncovered through interviews with former female employees, emails, and internal documents that numerous allegations against Weinstein stretch almost 30 years.
Over the same time period, Weinstein made a name for himself in financially supporting both Democratic candidates and causes.
The amount of money the producer donated in the last election cycle and to whom is staggering — more than $100,000:

He donated to both the Hillary Victory Fund and Hillary for America. He also donated to the Democratic National Committee and to the Friends of Schumer political action committee.
While he has donated a lot of personal money over the years, he has also worked hard to raise funds for Democrats, such as hosting a fundraiser for former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in his home last year, the Times notes.
Since the early 2000s, Weinstein gave more than $600,000 to Democrats, according to the Washington Free Beacon, including $5,000 toward former President Barack Obama's re-election effort and $66,000 to his victory fund in 2012.
California Sen. Kamala Harris (D) recently went on meeting spree with prominent Hamptons donors, which included Weinstein and his wife.
The allegations appeared to considered “open secret” to many:

In his statement responding to the allegations, Weinstein said he grew up in a different time, and because the times have changed, he learned that is no longer an excuse for his behavior.
Weinstein adds he will be focusing the anger he has toward the National Rifle Association.
