Before Thursday night, Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett had taken a knee for every single national anthem since the start of the season.
But he took a very different approach on “Thursday Night Football” during the NFL’s “Salute to Service” week.
Every single player, including Bennett, was standing for a stirring rendition of the national anthem ahead of Veterans Day weekend.
The Seahawks players did lock arms during the anthem:
Bennett has become a divisive figure in the NFL both for his continuous national anthem protests and disputed racial profiling claims against police in Las Vegas, where he was briefly detained amid reports of an active shooter.
The majority of NFL fans have made it clear they do not support acts of protests during the national anthem.
