James Comey is a curious person.

No matter what he does, he appears to struggle to fit in with the political realm. Republicans loved him during the election because he seemingly went after Hillary Clinton over the email scandal. Then he was criticized because he didn't actually attempt to charge Clinton with a crime.

Then, before the dust from the election had even settled, Comey was investigating the Trump campaign to see if there was any criminal activity with Russia. Shortly after that, he was dismissed from his position at the FBI by Donald Trump.

Now that Comey has come out of the shadows on Twitter, he's been taking some thinly veiled jabs at the president:

The tweet appeared on Comey's timeline shortly after Trump made his official statements on Roy Moore, per ABC News:

“Roy Moore denies it. That's all I can say. He denies it. And by the way, he totally denies it.”

Comey is not new to Washington and knows the reality of the political landscape. One would be inclined to think that Trump will only suffer these jabs for so long before he, in turn, goes after his political enemies. He even threatened Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in October and previously said, “He's not a war hero."

If anyone thinks Trump will hesitate to get dirty, just look at this tweet of his from 2013. It says all you need to know:
