Ever since Colin Kaepernick took a knee for the national anthem, the NFL has become a divisive and controversial topic. President Donald Trump weighed in and criticized players for disrespecting the flag early on in the season, and then more players came out to protest than ever before in retaliation.

As a result, many fans have boycotted the NFL, and the league's ratings have plummeted. Matters became even more complicated recently, as the league agreed to spend $89 million on social justice causes and San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid told Slate that money was originally intended to go to military and breast cancer awareness causes.

Then, on Nov. 28, the league revealed several players' custom cleats that would showcase different charities for the My Cause My Cleats initiative:

But there was one pair that really turned some heads. Rishard Matthews of the Tennessee Titans announced on Instagram that he was supporting Kaepernick's foundation with his custom cleats.

He wrote:

I dont have a foundation so i have chosen to support my brother @kaepernick7 foundation @yourrightscamp for #MyCauseMyCleats He has paid the ultimate sacrifice in order to bring true everyday issues to light. Matthews debuted the cleats during his team's 24-13 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.
