That’s the question the former model and equestrienne is prompting in the gossip press, notably Page Six:

Multiple sources tell Page Six that Dutch-born former model Annette — Lauer’s wife of 20 years — was last seen at their Hamptons home on Wednesday, the day Lauer’s firing was announced.

One Hamptons source told Page Six, “Annette has taken their two younger kids out of school and is believed to have left the US and gone to her family in her native country.” It is believed her mother lives near Amsterdam.

Lauer was recently fired from NBC’s “Today” show after he was accused of sexual misconduct.

Lauer has been keeping a low profile since his professional and personal life imploded with last week's revelations.

Now, locals believe Annette Roque has gone into hiding.

Page Six reports that Lauer’s been estranged from his wife for years because of his “wandering eye” and the fact that he stays in the city by himself during the week. The publication reported that Lauer has paid his wife to stay with him, giving her a new house with stables, a new horse and $5 million over the years.

The Post reported:

“He bought Annette a $100,000 horse, and we said, ‘Well, Matt must have been caught cheating again,’” a media source told The Post. “Every time he’s caught, he buys her a horse.”

Locals in Sag Harbor and Manhattan on Friday confirmed that the two have long lived entirely separate lives.

The couple has three children.
