Since “The View” co-host Joy Behar made the mistake of helping spread a false report from ABC News that said former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was ordered by then-candidate Donald Trump to make contact with the Russians, she backtracked on her joyful reaction Monday when she first told the audience.
As the co-hosts were discussing the ramifications of jumping to conclusions and not doing their part to verify information, Behar later admitted to not wanting President Trump to succeed.
“I have a lot of things to say about this. When it happened in real time, I think everyone was watching the show could see my discomfort at the room erupting like the Dodgers had just won the World Series,” co-host Megan McCain said.
“Because I do think holding people to both standards — I remember when [Barack] Obama was in office Rush Limbaugh saying, ‘I want my president to fail.’ And coming out and saying I could never get behind that because if our president fails it means America fails," she added.
Behar vehemently disagreed with McCain, saying, “I’m not so sure I want [Trump] to succeed at destroying the environment, playing chicken with Kim Jong Un. So I don’t want him to succeed at a lot of things. As you say, ‘We want our president to succeed.’ No I don’t.”
“Well, I didn't expect you not to admit that,” McCain responded.
