Ben Rhodes, former deputy national security advisor to President Barack Obama, took to Twitter on Wednesday to take a shot at President Donald Trump for his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Rhodes claimed Trump was harming the prospects of peace for a political promise he “doesn't even understand.”

Some on Twitter were quick to remind Rhodes of his part in the Iran deal, a country opposed to the existence of Israel and supported terrorist groups responsible for carrying out attacks against them.

A video surfaced of Obama calling Jerusalem the capital of Israel in 2008:

Obama's administration wasn't exactly known for his warmth toward Israel.

Rhodes once led journalists to believe a misleading narrative on negotiations with Iran, hoping they would create an “echo chamber” helping to sway public opinion in favor of the deal in 2013.
