Debra Messing/Facebook

There are things parents brag about all the time about their kids. Working hard, getting good grades, being kind and helping others are among them.

But Debra Messing’s Facebook followers got a full dose of parental braggadocio about what her son, Roman, did at a New York Rangers game Wednesday night.

The actress proudly photographed Roman Walker Zelman as he sat for the national anthem.

Messing tagged Black Lives Matter to make sure the group’s adherents knew all about her son’s virtue — and her own virtue signaling.

Messing wrote:

"Please stand for the pledge of allegiance.” Son: “Mom, I want to sit down in protest. Can we do that?”

Me: “Yes, honey. We can do that.”

Whose crying? I’m not crying. #BLM"

She included a photo of her son:

It’s not terribly surprising that Messing’s son would consider sitting for the anthem as a political statement. Messing has been quite active in Democratic politics and was a featured speaker at the Democratic National Convention:

She was a Hillary Clinton supporter during the last election cycle:

Comments on her Facebook fan page were overwhelmingly supportive, but there were a few who wondered why she shed tears of joy for her kid sitting down:

This Facebook commenter thought the actress was making a mistake by endorsing her son’s “disrespect”:

Messing is also starring in a reboot of her former hit show “Will & Grace."
