Oprah Winfrey made headlines Monday for her speech at the Golden Globes, and many have jumped to the conclusion she will run for president as a result. Even CNN's Chris Cillizza said, “You can close your eyes and imagine that speech being given in Iowa.”
However, with all the attention on her, things were naturally dug up about her past that aren't so great. One of them being an aspiring actress who alleges Harvey Weinstein used his extremely close relationship with Winfrey to trick her.
The actress said in a press conference in November 2017, “I thought, obviously, this man has something amazing in store for me.” But instead, ”Weinstein used promises of career advancement to lure the actress to his hotel room in Cannes, France, where he forced himself on her," according to Page Six.
Kadian Noble, a British actress, explained she was very impressed when she met Weinstein in London because he had Winfrey “swinging off his arm.”
Despite the allegations against him, Weinstein has denied all accusations of non-consensual sex. “Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances," his spokeswoman said.
During the Golden Globes on Sunday night, Winfrey didn't mention Weinstein's name once and was wearing black in solidarity with the victims he allegedly abused.
