Sanders Slams Combative CNN Reporter Jim Acosta So Hard That the Entire Press Room Erupts

On Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders held a press briefing. The majority of the questions were about the new tax bill and Walmart's recent announcement it will raise its minimum wage and hand out bonuses.

But there was one moment that stood out.

CNN's Jim Acosta went back to President Donald Trump and the criticism of his tweets. Acosta explained that many people have connected the dots between Trump watching “Fox & Friends” and the timing of his tweets around the topics it discusses.

“There are folks out there that said there is a cause and effect, that he watches something on 'Fox & friends' and then he tweets about it. Is that what happened this morning; does that go on?” he asked.

Sanders fired back: “I’m sure that you are disappointed that he is not watching CNN.”

“I think he watches a lot of CNN, if you don't mind me saying,” Acosta then said.

Sanders then put the nail in the coffin: “I don’t think that's true; your numbers would be higher.”

A loud “whoa” echoed as the room reacted.

Acosta then tried to backpedal and said, “they're actually better than they've been in a long time but—”

Sanders then assured the room Trump had been talking about the issues he tweeted about for weeks and that this was not something “that just happened this morning.”
