Rep. Gaetz Says Intelligence Memo Goes to the 'Very Foundations of Our Democracy'

Republicans are demanding that an alarming intelligence memo be released to Americans. The memo has not been made public, but Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told Fox Business he could not believe what he read:

“The allegations contained in this important intelligence document go to the very foundations of our democracy and they require an immediate release to the public in my opinion.”

Gaetz said:

"If the American people knew what was happening, if they saw the contents of this memo, a lot would become clear about the information that I've been talking about on television for the last several months.

And so I am calling on our leadership to immediately hold a vote on the floor of the House to make public the key contents of this intelligence memo regarding the FBI, the Department of Justice and President Trump."

When asked if he regrets voting for the extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), he had this reply:

“I don't regret that vote, because I think that there's a tremendous amount of helpful intelligence that comes through the 702 program, and I don't want to handcuff the brave men and women who are out there on the front lines working on behalf of our interests all over the world.”

He closed by saying:

“We really need to get this information into the public square.”

Gaetz is not alone in his move to have the memo made public to the American people:

This is a developing story.
