President Donald Trump followed up his days-long attempt to hide his own neglect of American military deaths — by smearing former President Barack Obama — with yet another attack on Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). McCain appeared to denounce Trump's “spurious nationalism” in a Liberty Medal acceptance speech, although McCain now says he was not referencing Trump.
That didn't much matter to Trump, though. In a radio interview with WMAL's Chris Plante on Tuesday morning, Trump threatened to get ugly with McCain:
“People have to be careful because at some point I fight back. You know, I’m being very nice. I’m being very, very nice. But at some point I fight back, and it won’t be pretty.”
Maybe Trump missed this bit of ugliness:
“He's not a war hero. He's a war hero, he's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured.”
Trump has also been haranguing McCain for months because he cast the deciding vote against Trumpcare in July. If this isn't already “not pretty,” I'd hate to see things get ugly.
