The Final Results of IJR’s 2018 ‘Cutest Dogs on the Hill’ Competition

The polls are closed, the votes have been tabulated, and the critics have spoken. The competition has been narrowed down, and one dog has been named — well, top dog.

Although all of the dogs submitted this year are good dogs, these three came out on top in the polls.

2nd Runner-Up: Sadie

Rep. Karen Handel’s (R-Ga.) beloved Sadie comes in third place in our competition. Sadie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was described in her application for this year’s contest as “an incredibly well-mannered and sweet Southern belle.”

1st Runner-Up: Maddie

In a triumphant return from last year’s contest, Maddie has made her way to second place! Maddie works in the office of Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) along with her owner and Grassley press secretary Nicole Tieman. Maddie’s talent for saluting Capitol Police officers undoubtedly gave her a leg up on the other competition.

And the winner of the 2018 Cutest Dogs on the Hill contest is … [drumroll] … Hank!

Hank comes to our contest from the office of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), where his owner, Kara Ahern, works as chief of staff.

Hank is a Boxer who has been known to make friends with many Capitol Police officers in his days working on the Hill. But Hank’s friends aren’t limited to the legislative branch — our first place pup knows former Vice President Dick Cheney!

Thank you to all of the wonderful dogs and owners who made this contest possible!
