Thirty People Die in Two Mass Shootings in Texas and Ohio

Thirty people died and dozens were wounded in two mass shootings within just 13 hours of each other in the United States, shocking the country and prompting calls from some politicians for tighter gun control.

The first massacre occurred on Saturday morning in the heavily Hispanic border city of El Paso, where a gunman killed 20 people at a Walmart store before surrendering to police.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the rampage appeared to be a hate crime, and police cited a “manifesto” they attributed to the suspect, a 21-year-old white man, as evidence that the bloodshed was racially motivated.

Across the country, a gunman opened fire in a downtown district of Dayton, Ohio, early on Sunday, killing nine people and wounding at least 26 others, police and the city mayor said. The assailant was shot dead by police.

The El Paso shooting reverberated on the campaign trail for next year’s U.S. presidential election, with several Democratic candidates denouncing the rise of gun violence and repeating calls for tighter gun control measures.

At least two candidates, Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, and El Paso native Beto O’Rourke, a former congressman, drew connections to a resurgence in white nationalism and xenophobic politics in the United States.

“America is under attack from homegrown white nationalist terrorism,” Buttigieg said at an event in Las Vegas.

President Donald Trump branded the shooting “an act of cowardice,” saying in a Twitter post, “I know that I stand with everyone in this country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people.”

A hallmark of Trump’s presidency has been his determination to curb illegal immigration. Critics say the rhetoric he has used around the issue, as well as other remarks about minorities, is divisive and has fueled racism and xenophobia.

Pope Francis condemned the spate of attacks on “defenseless people” in the United States, including a rampage last Sunday in which a gunman killed three people and wounded about a dozen at a garlic festival in Gilroy, California.

‘HATE CRIME’

In Texas, police and FBI investigators searched for clues as to what motivated the suspect, who is from Allen, Texas, a Dallas suburb some 650 miles (1,046 km) east of El Paso, which lies on Rio Grande across the U.S.-Mexico border from Ciudad Juarez.

Multiple news media outlets, citing law enforcement officials, named him as Patrick Crusius.

Police said the suspect opened fire with a rifle on shoppers, many of them bargain-hunting for back-to-school supplies, then surrendered to officers who confronted him outside the store.

An El Paso police spokesman, Sergeant Robert Gomez, said on Saturday night police were interviewing the suspect, while investigators continued to collect evidence at the crime scene.

Several local politicians said the gunman was an outsider, suggesting he had traveled hundreds of miles from the Dallas area to commit mass murder. But Gomez declined to say how long the suspect might have been in El Paso before the shooting.

El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said investigators were examining a “manifesto” from the suspect indicating “there is a potential nexus to a hate crime.”

A four-page statement posted on 8chan, an online message board often used by extremists, and believed to have been written by the suspect, called the Walmart attack “a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

It also expressed for support for the gunman who killed 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in March.

CNN reported the FBI had opened a domestic terrorism investigation.

“We are going to aggressively prosecute it both as capital murder but also as a hate crime, which is exactly what it appears to be,” Texas Governor Abbott told reporters.

El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, together with the neighboring city of Las Cruces, New Mexico, form a metropolitan border area of some 2.5 million residents constituting the largest bilingual, bi-national population in North America.

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said three Mexican nationals were among the 20 people killed in the shooting, and six others were among 26 victims who were wounded.

The carnage ranked as the eighth-deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, after a 1984 shooting in San Ysidro, California, in which 21 people died.

RAPID POLICE ACTION

In Dayton, a riverfront city of about 140,000 people in southwestern Ohio, a gunman dressed in body armor opened fire in a downtown district, unleashing carnage that could have been much worse if not for the rapid intervention of police.

Officers who were on routine patrol nearby were on the scene in less than a minute and shot the attacker dead, likely preventing a much higher casualty toll, police and the city’s mayor said.

Assistant Police Chief Matt Carper said the shooting began at 1 a.m. local time in Dayton’s Oregon District, a downtown historic neighborhood popular for its nightclubs, restaurants art galleries and shops.

The motive was not immediately clear, and investigators believe the individual had acted alone, Carper said.

The authorities did not disclose the shooter’s identity.

A total of 10 people were killed, including the assailant. Twenty-six others were injured and taken to hospitals across the area, Mayor Nan Whaley told reporters, though the extent of their injuries was not known.

She said the suspect was wearing body armor and was armed with a rifle firing .223-caliber rounds with high-capacity ammunition magazines.

FBI agents were assisting in the investigation.

The Left has always wanted to disarm ALL Americans even – at times – calling for the military and police to be disarmed. This was the plan of Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, Josef Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Kim Jong-il, Idi Amin, Qaddafi and others with Socialist leanings (Nazism, Stalinism, Communism, Marxism) intent on CONTROLLING and ENSLAVING the population with their POWER. But now, we have the "Democratic" Party morphed into a radicalized Socialist Party which is hellbent on CONTROLLING and ENSLAVING the population with the POWER they believe they are entitled to.

Personally I see NO difference between THEN and NOW under this NEW Socialist political agenda created (with its' LIES) to be in our "best interest" (Green New Deal, Medicare for All – Illegal Aliens, too, complete gun confiscation, open borders for all, anybody can vote, etc., etc., etc.).

How does "The United Socialist States of America" sound to you???

  2. Interesting that one shooting occurred in Beto’s home town and the other in Buttrer-dig’s while at the same time Diane Feinstein is pushing a big gun control bill through the Committees in the Senate to take away almost all semi-automatic weapons.,

    1. What are you talking about? The other shooting was in Ohio. Buttigieg is a mayor in Indiana. Assuming in your post about suspicious timing you forgot about timing altogether and are thinking of that other shooting Buttigieg was in the hotseat for, that was a police shooting.

So again – what are you talking about?

  3. “I am so pleased” to see Smoochy Biden is on top of what’s happening in the United States. At a fund raising speech, he passed his condolences to the families of those killed in Houston and Michigan (NOT where they actually took place – El Paso and Dayton, OHIO).

    WHAT A MORON!! THIS creep is SOOOOO stupid , he . . . ? . . .!!

  4. I think there are too many violent computer game out there that dehumanizing people. It should be looked into if the shooter used these types of games. There are too many many 20+ year olds still living with their parent(s) with no job, no skills and no ambition. And then there’s the main stream media that has to publish ever little detail of the shooter, which seems to be an incentive for other live with their parent(s) people. The parent(s) probably know something is not not right with their off spring, but say nothing. It seems to me the more shootings are publicized the more shooters we get.

    1. While these shootings inflict permanent damage on a family, the MSM exacerbates the problem by publishing every unnecessary and useless detail; PLUS the shooter’s name. IF the shooter’s name were eliminated and his/her “15 minutes of fame” is ignored, how could the next shooter (an there WILL be more) claim his/her moment of glory in the spot light?

    2. There’s more going on here than any computer games. That’s only PART of it. Read about government experiments into projecting voices artificially into people’s minds…we’ve had the ability since the 70’s, and it was used in the Gulf War. This is a coordinated effort to disarm the population and our own government is responsible…

There was also an Army Specialist named Glendon Oakley who was carrying his LEGAL weapon and is credited with saving a "lot" of children in the store. A young boy ran up to him and said there was an active shooter in the store and Specialist Oakley gathered up a bunch of children and got them to safety. [Per "We the People" website".]

  6. Read the shooters manifesto, the 1932 Nazi platform and the Democratic platform and you will see they are all very very similar. Does anyone really believe homicide will stop with gun confiscation? Has complete confiscation of drugs worked? If this is truly about public safety then why don’t they address illegal drug use, alcohol abuse and even sexually transmitted diseases. More Americans die each years from these things than firearms. More people die each year crossing that border illegally than die from firearms. Final question, would a law have stopped this individual from committing this crime? If it would then why didn’t the law making murder stop him? It will only serve to make people who would never do this give up their firearms. The loonies and criminals will continue to get them just like they do now. But hey it serves the liberals purpose to disarm the people just like they did in Venezuela and Hong Kong. You can force them into compliance easier and subdue them easier. This is the push behind liberal gun control.

    1. . . . AND more people die in automobile accidents than from guns; yet guns are the go-to inanimate object to be banned and confiscated by the anti-gun crowd. Also, it is our Constitutional RIGHT to own a gun (per the Second Amendment); but we have no such Constitutional RIGHT to own that killing machine called a “vehicle”.

NO amount of “gun control” laws is going to stop gun violence. PERIOD. There are dozens and dozens of such laws on the books already and the most recent shootings PROVE they’re just words on paper. We need “people control”; NOT more words on paper.

    2. I agree with James below, but have you ever wondered why these shootings occur in “Gun Free” zones? They never try a mass shooting in a gun store. Why? Simple they would be dead before they ever got their first round off. It also amazes me that the gun control nuts never answer the question of why these shooters would abide by a new gun grab, but ignore the posted “Gun Free” signs and take a gun into that area which is a violation of the law that would already have prevented the shooting IF … So what makes a looney politician believe that a new law will be followed? There is a liquor store in Albuquerque, New Mexico that has NEVER had an armed robbery attempt while every other store in that strip mall has had a robbery at some time in the past. New Mexico has open carry law. You can walk down the street armed, without a permit as long as the weapon is not concealed. The liquor store has a western theme. Every worker is wearing a cowboy hat, boots, western shirt and 2 loaded 45s on their hip. A loaded double barrel 12 gauge shotgun is hanging on the wall behind the cash register. NEVER an armed robbery and the store has been in business before 1965 when I first moved there.

  7. from the Foilhat Gazette: Dimocrats Advance Bill Declaring “White House” Racist.

More mass shootings occur as a the Left continues its war on all things white.

“Our council has declared mashed potatoes are racist!” said Kwame Somedeadpresident. (D-Blue State) “Potatoes were stolen from the Incas and used to enslave the Irish by white people.” When asked if the Irish were white Europeans he replied “Nahh. Ain’t you heard about the Black Irish?”

“We aim to eradicate all vestiges of whiteness and Western civilization in our new Marxist movement.” This reporter asked if Somedeadpresident was aware that Karl Marx was a dead, Jewish, male and European.

“That’s a lie. Marx is a Black Egyptian name. His family built the pyramids with the help of ancient aliens and shared our slave brotherhood.” When asked if the Egyptians were black slaveholders of the Jews, Somedeadpresident deflected. “Cleopatra was our last Black Egyptian princess (though historic records indicate she was Ptolemaic Greek) and the white oppressor Romans assassinated her.”

“The WHITE House is the ultimate racist symbol. Even it’s name says so.” he added. “Our elected representatives are working to change that, though a final color scheme is still being worked out.”

    1. Sounds like the Tin Foil Hat Gazette just surpassed CNN and MSNBC in their credibility ratings…..

  8. The El Paso shooter was anti-immigrant, pro-environment, anti-corporate and clearly planned for this*. He’s a mixed bag, like a can of cocktail nuts. He also expressed that learning from the methods of the Islamic extremists was not such a bad idea.

What he and the Gilroy shooter both expressed was anger for being considered a 2nd-class citizen for being white and male.

Maybe it’s time to re-examine the modern culture that makes “white” a sign of villainy and *gasp* racism. A recent study declared robots “racist” for having white shells. So I guess toilets, printer paper, cotton balls, and even the clouds in the sky** are also racist. At least by modern “reckoning”.

Why isn’t the Left defending this “excluded” class? Oh right. They’re mostly white and probably hate themselves.

*his manifesto included evaluations of the effectiveness and lethality of various combos of guns and ammo.

**no wonder the whacked, maladjusted Left scream at the sky.

    1. It has not yet been revealed; but if this shooter conforms to the standard of mass murderers in the United States, it is most likely he was a registered Democrat.

  9. The anti-gun crowd will POLITICIZE any and all incidents to push its agenda. Disarmament and confiscation. It uses the Left’s trope of NEVER blaming the individuals or examining their motives.

The Gilroy and El Paso shooters were sympathetic with and motivated by the New Zealand mosque shootings. So was the Poway synagogue shooter.

Are we failing to connect the dots, that these were all Muslim sympathizers? Good thing they didn’t use bombs, trucks, and/or knives as they have before and will again.

Guns are simply their most convenient killing tools. They will ALWAYS find others. We’re not Europe, though the gun laws there have NOT stopped mass-killings. q.v. Lockerbie, Scotland and the Norway massacre by Brevik.

Guns may enable them but they also enable the defenders to stop them.

    1. Stupid IJR. I meant to say sympathizers in adapting their methods. They hate the “others” and the privileges granted them.

Maybe those who blame whites for everything should reconsider.

    2. You should do some research into John Podesta’s trip to New Zealand 2 weeks before that shooting. The famous “fourteen fish” photo of him…”14 fish” was literally drawn on the shooter’s weapon. A lot more to this than we know…

  10. My prayers are with all the victims of the massacre, hoping that they will heal physically and emotionally. We must bring back the death ? penalty, and do it swiftly, show the criminals who perpetuate these heinous crimes that what awaits them, maybe they will think ? twice!! I ask that President Trump will unify our nation, and bring on judicial system judges who do believe in swift action for the death penalty!

  11. Dear Lord there are so many lunatics nothing is really shocking anymore. It is so very sad. Thankfully the police were right there or who knows how many more people would have been slaughtered. There are certainly no easy answers.

  12. Those so horrifically taken will surely Rest In Peace in the sheltering arms of love and watch over and guide those who now begin the long arduous journey of recovery.

  13. THERE are those violate everybody’s Rights with calls for MORE gun control by the “disarm America” crowd! As expected. Yet, the creep in El Paso was of legal age to own his rifle and probably purchased it legally. HOW would MORE “gun control” have stopped this guy? ANSWER: It would NOT.

WHY wasn’t this guy’s social media page comments passed on the the police? What good is “social media” if no one reads it?

WE need “people control”; NOT more “gun control” laws which aren’t being enforced.

    1. Notice what saved lives in Ohio- people close by with guns! The bad guys will always have guns, we should always be able to defend ourselves. Thank you to the police in Ohio, there in less than a minute and stopped him literally dead in his tracks.

    2. I find the timing of this stuff suspect. MKUltra?? I don’t know but I don’t believe in coincidence.
