‘The Best Week of Winning’: Fans Celebrate Tim Allen’s ‘Last Man Standing’ Revival

After actor Tim Allen confirmed that Fox was picking up his show, “Last Man Standing,” fans and big-name conservatives celebrated by calling it the “best week of winning.”

“Last Man Standing” faced a controversial end after ABC dropped it despite high ratings, which sparked speculation that it was because the show’s lead was politically conservative.

Almost exactly a year after its cancellation, following petitions and cries from fans to bring it back, Allen thanked everyone for their support and announced that the show would air on Fox starting in the fall of 2018.

The announcement came the same week that President Donald Trump secured the release of three Americans being detained in North Korea, and big-name conservatives touted it as “the best week of winning”:

Comedian Bill Engvall also shared a congratulatory message for Allen on Twitter:

Actor James Woods tweeted that “life is good” now that “Last Man Standing” is coming back to television:

One user called it the “best news” he’s “heard all night”:

It wasn’t just conservatives that were praising the show’s return, either. Laura Maldonado said she’s “very progressive and pretty liberal” and still loves the show because it’s about “balance”:

Following the announcement, Allen described his excitement to Fox by relating the show to a baseball game. To Allen, “Last Man Standing” was in the sixth inning, ahead by four runs, with packed stands, and suddenly, the game was called off.

“It leaves you sitting in the dugout, holding a bat and puzzled,” he said. “Now we get the news from Fox that it’s time to get back out on that diamond – hell yes, I’m excited!”

Gary Newman and Dana Walden, chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group, said the show “ended too soon” and that the calls for its revival from fans “has been deafening.”
