Green Beret Knocks USWNT Star for Protesting During Anthem, Snubbing WH: It ‘Breaks My Heart’

A UFC fighter and former Army Green Beret knocked U.S. women’s national team star Megan Rapinoe for refusing to sing during the national anthem during the Women’s World Cup and snubbing a visit with President Donald Trump at the White House.

During an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Monday morning, former Green Beret Sgt. Tim Kennedy was pressed for his reaction to Rapinoe’s refusal to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and her recent comment saying that she would not go “to the f**king White House.”

Kennedy responded by saying that it was “sad” and “disappointing” to see the soccer star protesting during the national anthem and that the act “demonstrates what they don’t understand” about America.

“We’re an imperfect country, and we have been, but we’re the greatest country in the world,” the former Green Beret said. “And an opportunity to represent to the world really how spectacular we are and what kind of a place it is to live here, I think they’re just wasting that opportunity.”

Watch the video here:

Kennedy continued on to say that Rapinoe and the other women’s team stars who are blasting the president are in a “privileged position” by “representing” the U.S. in the World Cup and that he could not “imagine having an American flag on your shoulder” and not showing the unity of the American people when the “whole entire world is watching you.”

“It kind of breaks my heart,” Kennedy added.

As IJR Red previously reported, the president invited the U.S. women’s national team to the White House to celebrate their appearance in the World Cup, win or lose.

Rapinoe — a co-captain of the team — told reporters that she would not be “going to the f**king White House.”

Trump fired back on Twitter shortly thereafter, proclaiming that Rapinoe should “be proud of the flag” she wears on her jersey.

I think it is time soccer learns the hard lesson that the NFL was looking at. Start boycotting them and you will see change in their attitude

I agree with kennedy , we are the greatest nation and one of the reasons we are is because we allow people to express themselves. God bless America for not being a place where she would be rounded up and put in prison til she praised our great leader.

I can’t even find it in my heart to wish them success. They do not represent my country.

It’s not that great of a place to live. Especially for women who are having rights taken away. We kill thousands of people in their home land because war is a great money maker. We don’t take care of our veterans, we have a government who doesn’t want to care for it’s people. Who puts profit over humanity, who constantly lies to the public. If I had the money, I’d be out of here. I know some Americans who have migrated to Sweden and they love it. The USA is far from great. When a person gets knocked for using… Read more »

They are paid to be athletes. I don’t take my voting advice from any of them. They seem to live in an alternative universe. One that gives them undeserved attention against our American values.
