Tlaib Rips Rand Paul for Urging People To Defy COVID Mandates — He Fires Back With Hypocrisy Charge

Share

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is accusing Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) of hypocrisy after a video surfaced showing her dancing maskless at an indoor wedding.

Tlaib blasted Paul for posting a video on Sunday urging people to defy COVID-19 mandates. In a tweet, she wrote, “The KY Senator is throwing a tantrum as his state is being swallowed whole by this virus, again. People are getting sick and dying.”

She continued, “98 counties in Kentucky have a high incidence rate of COVID-19. He needs to put politics aside, and put people first. Start resisting the virus.”

Paul fired back on Twitter on Tuesday, “Oh, the hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds.”

He shared a link to a story from the New York Post about a video showing Tlaib dancing maskless at an indoor wedding in Dearborn, Michigan, on Sunday.

According to Fox News, a band that plays at weddings posted a video of Tlaib dancing at the wedding to its Instagram story.

The outlet notes that the band also tagged the location of the wedding, which showed it was at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, which is in Wayne County, Michigan.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Wayne County is currently experiencing a “substantial” level of virus transmission.

The CDC currently recommends that fully vaccinated people in areas of “substantial” or “high” transmission wear a mask indoors.

In a video posted on Twitter on Sunday, Paul said, “It’s time for us to resist. They can’t arrest all of us. They can’t keep all of your kids home from school. They can’t keep every government building closed.”

“We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and bureaucrats. We can simply say, ‘No. Not again,'” he added.

Paul also said that “no one should follow the CDC’s anti-science mask mandates.”
