Former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Tom Homan is slamming a Democratic lawmaker for the “political theater” after the two clashed a Friday’s hearing.
During Friday’s House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing on the detention facility conditions at the U.S.-Mexico border, the heat turned up when Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) laid into Homan. Connolly expressed disapproval of the treatment of migrant children.
The Democratic lawmaker shared that he’s heard “horror stories” that he thought was “fiction” and later added, “The equivocation, the enabling, the rationalization is inexcusable.”
After, Connolly was questioning acting Homeland Security inspector general Jennifer Costello when he then shouted, “I’m not calling on you, sir!” after Homan expressed that he was “extremely frustrated.”
“Of course not,” Homan responded, suggesting that the hearing “isn’t about transparency.”
“You’re not at the border right now!” Connolly said. “You’re in a hearing room! It’s my time!”

Discussing Friday’s clash at the hearing, Homan told Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs late Friday that he was “insulted” by the Democratic lawmaker because he “threw out dirt and wouldn’t let me respond.”
“This is about political theater. He ran out of there like a little girl. He’s a coward. He didn’t want to hear my response because this was all political theater. … This is about transparency but you won’t let me respond to what you’re saying. If this is a focus of Congress to push a false narrative … that tells you what this is all about. This is about resisting this president, this about open borders. They don’t want to hear the truth.”

#AmericaFirst – Tom Homan: Congress doesn't want to hear the truth. Pushing a false narrative & not letting someone like me who spent 34 years on the border speak about the crisis tells you something. This is all about resisting @RealDonaldTrump. #MAGA #Dobbs pic.twitter.com/7HR1kkcp2o

As IJR Red reported, Vice President Mike Pence visited border detention facilities at the southern border on Friday and blasted the “outrage” comparison of the migrant shelters to concentration camps.
