Former ICE Director Slams Dem Rep for ‘Political Theater’ After Clashing at Hearing over Border Conditions

Former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Tom Homan is slamming a Democratic lawmaker for the “political theater” after the two clashed a Friday’s hearing.

During Friday’s House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing on the detention facility conditions at the U.S.-Mexico border, the heat turned up when Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) laid into Homan. Connolly expressed disapproval of the treatment of migrant children.

The Democratic lawmaker shared that he’s heard “horror stories” that he thought was “fiction” and later added, “The equivocation, the enabling, the rationalization is inexcusable.”

After, Connolly was questioning acting Homeland Security inspector general Jennifer Costello when he then shouted, “I’m not calling on you, sir!” after Homan expressed that he was “extremely frustrated.”

“Of course not,” Homan responded, suggesting that the hearing “isn’t about transparency.”

“You’re not at the border right now!” Connolly said. “You’re in a hearing room! It’s my time!”

Watch the video below:

Discussing Friday’s clash at the hearing, Homan told Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs late Friday that he was “insulted” by the Democratic lawmaker because he “threw out dirt and wouldn’t let me respond.”

“This is about political theater. He ran out of there like a little girl. He’s a coward. He didn’t want to hear my response because this was all political theater. … This is about transparency but you won’t let me respond to what you’re saying. If this is a focus of Congress to push a false narrative … that tells you what this is all about. This is about resisting this president, this about open borders. They don’t want to hear the truth.”

See Homan’s interview below:

As IJR Red reported, Vice President Mike Pence visited border detention facilities at the southern border on Friday and blasted the “outrage” comparison of the migrant shelters to concentration camps.

I saw the replay of this interview. Clearly and obviously, Homas spoke the truth. He was disregarded and blatantly disrespected by a person who had a canned opinion based on the Party Line to resist no matter how stupid it makes you look.

It’s very true what Homan was stating, none of the Democrats wanted to hear a word he was saying, as all they did was repeat their rhetoric even though he clarified that they were ignoring the facts. I have seen better acting than their postulations and crying and yelling. They must have been spoiled as children to think everything has to be their way only.

Connolly just like his fellow Dems are grandstanders…all I hear is blah, blah, blah. Look, bottom line, illegal immigrant,..word du jour illegal. Don’t come here and then u won’t be upset about conditions. Come here…take your chances. Don’t want my tax dollars being spent on taking care of you and whoever else you are dragging along.

Gerry Connolly is supposed to represent my state of Va, but he doesn’t. I am embarrassed that he was elected, and apologize for his behavior. He does not represent me, a citizen of Virginia.

Thanks IJR. I wrote the first comment at 6:56 pm. Only took 3 hours to post all three attempts.

Well Phyll, of course, you’re “not following the logic”. You’re a Democrat.
