The president announced Monday morning that the event will be held in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall, according to NBC News.
“I’m pleased to reveal that the 2027 NFL draft, that’s a big thing, will be held right here in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., on the National Mall,” Trump said in the Oval Office.
“The draft is a celebration of one of our country’s most cherished cultural institutions,” Trump added, per Reuters.

Trump watched this year’s draft from a distance, but had plenty to say. This year’s draft was held in Lambeau Field, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Trump took issue with owners not taking Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the first round.
“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” Trump wrote on social media. “Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
Sanders is a son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. He was expected to be a top pick but was taken in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.
