‘Cannot Continue!’: Trump Calls on China to End Unfair Trade Practices

President Donald Trump covered a slew of different topics in a series of tweets on Saturday, most notably calling on China to “end unfair trade, take down barriers and charge only Reciprocal Tariffs” as tensions ratchet up between the two countries over threats of tariffs.

“The U.S. is losing $500 Billion a year, and has been losing Billions of Dollars for decades,” Trump tweeted. “Cannot continue!”

Trump threatened Thursday to levy an additional $100 billion of tariffs on Chinese imports on top of the $50 billion already proposed. China responded by threatening equivalent tariffs of its own, listing American products it would target, which focus on agricultural goods produced in rural America.

The threats have many rural Americans worried that business will be harmed if the heated rhetoric reaches fruition in the form of aggressive tariffs on U.S. trade.

Trump also attacked Democrats in a separate tweet, once again blaming the party for weakness on immigration issues.

The president confirmed his plan to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to assist in border security in the absence of his promised border wall intended to stem the stream of illegal immigration.

After the White House announced a deployment of 2,000 to 4,000 troops, Texas and Arizona began sending the first wave of National Guard personnel to the border on Friday, according to Politico.
