Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley not only won Sundayâs primary in Washington, D.C. She was also crowned âQueen of the Swamp.â
At least that is according to former President Donald Trumpâs campaign. Trump fell to Haley by garnering 33.3% of the vote compared to Haleyâs 62.8%, according to the results. This marked the first primary win for the former South Carolina governor.
âTonightâs results in Washington D.C. reaffirm the object of President Trumpâs campaign â he will drain the swamp and put America first,â Karoline Leavitt, Trumpâs campaign press secretary, said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
âWhile Nikki has been soundly rejected throughout the rest of America, she was just crowned Queen of the Swamp by the lobbyists and DC insiders that want to protect the failed status quo,â Leavitt said. âThe swamp has claimed their queen.â
âPresident Trump will fight for every American who is being let down by these very DC insiders and devastated by Joe Bidenâs failures,â she said.
Trump himself jumped on Truth Social about the âSwamp.â
âI purposely stayed away from the D.C. Vote because it is the âSwamp,â with very few delegates, and no upside,â Trump wrote. âBirdbrain spent all of her time, money and effort there. Over the weekend we won Missouri, Idaho, and Michigan â BIG NUMBERS â Complete destruction of a very weak opponent. The really big numbers will come on Super Tuesday. Also, WAY UP ON CROOKED JOE!â
Haley has 19 GOP delegates with the victory; 1,215 delegates are needed to secure the GOP nomination, according to The Hill.
