President Donald Trump took down a post that depicted him as Jesus Christ after receiving some backlash.
Trump posted an AI-generated image of him as Jesus late Sunday night.
The image, posted on Truth Social, was deleted late Monday morning.
The image showed Trump in a robe over a sick man apparently healing the man with his hand as a nurse watched.
Trumpās post was met with criticizism by many, including Fox News host Joey Jones.
āThat picture is looney tunes,ā Jones posted on X. āI donāt clutch pearls or feign outrage I think all politicians are narcissistic by nature. But cmon amigo, no unforced errors would be great!ā
The Daily WireāsĀ Michael KnowlesĀ and OutkickāsĀ Riley GainesĀ called out Trump for the post, IJR previously reported.
Knowles urged Trump to delete the post, saying it was in the presidentās best interests āboth spiritually and politicallyā to pull it from his Truth Social account.
Others called the post blasphemous.
Trump posted the picture on Sunday night after he blasted Pope Leo for his recent criticism of the Iran war.
The president said Pope Leo had āterribleā thoughts on foreign policy and was āWEAKā on both crime and nuclear weapons. He also took credit for the pope becoming the first American pontiff last year.
āI donāt want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because Iām doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History,ā the president said.
Trump told reporters Sunday night he was ānot a big fanā of the pope.
āHeās a very liberal person, and heās a man that doesnāt believe in stopping crime,ā Trump said.
The pope responded Monday morning, stating, āI have no fear of the Trump administration, nor speaking out loudly about the message of the Gospel.ā
āThatās what I believe in. I am called to do what the church is called to do.ā
