Trump Gives Dems Lesson on Border Wall: ‘It Will Be Beautiful,’ Give Us Security, and Save Taxpayers Money

Just days before a possible government shutdown, President Donald Trump continues to urge Democrats to back the funding for the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

For months now, Trump has pushed Democrats to back $5 billion funding for the construction of the border wall or else he’d be “proud” to shut down the government to protect Americans from “criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into our country.”

On Tuesday, the White House made it clear they wanted to stay away from a shutdown, as White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said there could be “other ways to get to that $5 billion,” IJR Red reported.

“At the end of the day, we don’t want to shut down the government, we want to shut down the border from illegal immigration,” Sanders said.

However, the standoff between Trump and Congress on the border wall continues.

The president took to Twitter late Tuesday to set Democrats straight about what the wall would look like.

“The Democrats, are saying loud and clear that they do not want to build a Concrete Wall – but we are not building a Concrete Wall, we are building artistically designed steel slats, so that you can easily see through it,” he wrote, adding that the wall will be “beautiful,” give Americans security, and save taxpayers “BILLIONS.”

“It will be beautiful and, at the same time, give our Country the security that our citizens deserve. It will go up fast and save us BILLIONS of dollars a month once completed!”

Trump reiterated on Wednesday that Democrats “fight to the death” on border security and military funding.

“We won on the Military, which is being completely rebuilt,” he wrote. “One way or the other, we will win on the Wall!”

Early Wednesday, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said the president is considering a short-term border wall deal, but won’t cave completely.

“The president is not softening his stance,” Conway said on Fox News.

“He has a responsibility to keep the government moving forward, and has a responsibility to get border security. If he could do it by himself, he would have done it already.”

Watch the video below:

“The president has said he’s willing to do what he has to do to get that border security, including a government shutdown,” Conway said. “Now we’ll see what the Senate and the House, what they come together and present to the president. We don’t know what’s going to make it to his desk.”

Trump campaigned on MEXICO paying for the wall. Now he says Mexico will pay via his trade deal. When the US gets the money from Mexico, then he should build the wall. WHEN during ANY rally did he say that the US TAXPAYERS would pay? The refrain from the crowd was ALWAYS “MEXICO!” At no rally was the response, “THE US TAXPAYERS” or “WE WILL.” Perhaps a “Go Fund Me” FB page is the answer. If he can not get 217 House votes with 236 R’s, how will he get them with 196?
