Trump Denies Sleeping in Cabinet Meeting: ‘It was a Little Bit on the Boring Side’

TOPSHOT - US President Donald Trump reacts at the "Board of Peace" meeting during the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos on January 22, 2026. US President Donald Trump will show off his new "Board of Peace" at Davos on January 22, 2026 burnishing his claim to be a peacemaker a day after backing off his own threats against Greenland. Originally meant to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza after the war between Hamas and Israel, the board's charter does not limit its role to the Strip, and has sparked concerns that Trump wants it to rival the United Nations. President Donald Trump issued a denial of sorts when started Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

The president admitted the last meeting “got pretty boring,” but he denied falling asleep in the meeting, as Mediaite reported.

“So, with that, we are going to ask a couple of people to say a few words. And we’re not going to go through the whole table because the last time we had a press conference, it lasted for three hours,” Trump said. “And some people said, ‘He closed his eyes.’ Look, it got pretty boring. I love these people, I love these people, but there’s a lot of people! It was a little bit on the boring side.”

Watch:

Trump says he did not fall asleep during his December Cabinet meeting:

With that, he reiterated he did not fall asleep, but was caught “in a blink.”

“But I didn’t sleep, I just closed them because I wanted to get the hell out of here! Some of them-, and I didn’t sleep by the way, I don’t sleep much,” Trump said. “But you know, it’s funny, some of them got me in a blink. You know, when you go like, and they took me as at the closed segment of my cycle, and they said, ‘He’s sleeping!’”

“And besides that, Marco, between these two guys, if I was sleeping, they’d be waking me up. They’d be knocking me, ‘Come on, you got to wake up, boss,’” Trump continued. “But no, we’ve had great meetin-, look, we’re the most transparent presidency by far. And I love going around the room, but we’re going to pick a few people.”
