President Donald Trump has revealed Iran’s “new regime president” is seeking a ceasefire.
Trump made the announcement Wednesday morning via a post on Truth Social.
The post is in reference to President Masoud Pezeshkian.
“Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!” Trump wrote. “We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT”
War Secretary Pete Hegseth reposted Trump’s message on X along with a saluting emoji.
Before, Iran has denied it is seeking a ceasefire.
In a report from the Associated Press, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran will continue fighting and that “we do not set any deadline for defending ourselves.”
Trump is set to give a major address to the nation on Wednesday night.
