After slamming an article she deemed “gossip,” the Democrat Socialist darling tried to backtrack after people compared her statement to President Donald Trump’s previous remarks on the media. The president’s son is now replying to Rep.elect-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) comment.
Ocasio-Cortez has not strayed from using Twitter, as she took aim at a Politico article that claimed she was trying to oust Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) by taking him out of office by 2020, like she ousted Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) earlier this year, as IJR Red reported.
Just a day after the Democrat said she was taking a week off for “self-care,” Ocasio-Cortez took a swipe at Politico saying it was filled with anonymous sources, calling the “junk article like this: ‘Birdcage lining.'”
For the record, this is the second @politico article about me in a short period of time with *0* named sources to back claims containing false information.
Their articles are printed + distributed to **Congressional offices** – w/ no named sources.
It’s really unfortunate.

She then tried to backtrack saying it was the second time Politico had unnamed sources “containing false information,” adding that it’s “unfortunate.”
Politico released a statement that they stood by their articles:
“Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does not specify in her tweet what she believes is incorrect with the piece, nor has she or anyone from her staff reached out to our team for a correction. We stand by our reporting.”
Donald Trump Jr. added his thoughts to Ocasio-Cortez’s comment on the “gossip” media, saying “welcome to our world.”
“You think that’s bad?” he wrote, “Imagine what it’s like when they actually hate you.”
Welcome to our world… You think that's bad? Imagine what it's like when they actually hate you. https://t.co/YQ99UU5pHB

This wasn’t the first time Trump Jr. and Ocasio-Cortez have exchange words.
As IJR Red reported, Ocasio-Cortez threatened Trump Jr. with “subpoena power” while labeling him as “Junior,” after he posted a meme about her — she also then received backlash for saying she’d have subpoena power over him.
Ocasio-Cortez officially doesn’t start for another two weeks, yet the young Democrat Socialist has found herself in the heat of things already.
