CNN’s public relations department told the president’s son on Saturday that his father’s immigration ad was “racist.”
The ad focused on the dangers posed by illegal immigration and showed copious footage of the migrant caravan alongside videos of an immigrant who said he regretted not killing more cops.
Donald Trump Jr. specifically criticized CNN, knocking the network for only airing content that suited its agenda.
CNN refused to run this ad… I guess they only run fake news and won’t talk about real threats that don’t suit their agenda. Enjoy. Remember this on Tuesday. #vote #voterepublican pic.twitter.com/VyMm7GhPLX

“I guess they only run fake news and won’t talk about real threats that don’t suit their agenda,” he said.
When CNN responded, it indicated that it declined to run the ad because it was “racist”:
CNN has made it abundantly clear in its editorial coverage that this ad is racist. When presented with an opportunity to be paid to take a version of this ad, we declined. Those are the facts. ?

“CNN has made it abundantly clear in its editorial coverage that this ad is racist,” the network said.
The incident comes as CNN recently faced its own accusations of racism as its primetime anchor Don Lemon came under fire for calling white men “the biggest terror threat in the country” and as other network personalities criticized Kanye West’s White House visit.
“We have to stop demonizing people and realize that the biggest terror threat in this country is white men,” Lemon said, “most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them.”
During one of Lemon’s segments on “CNN Tonight With Don Lemon,” one of his guests referred to rapper Kanye West as the “token negro of the Trump administration.”
Another guest, CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers suggested West supported “anti-intellectualism” and that “Kanye West is what happens when Negros don’t read.”
In response to that comment, Lemon laughed and appeared shocked but didn’t push back on the claim. He also asked Sellers if West was a mere “prop” to win over black voters.

CNN political commentator Tara Setmayer, who called West the “token negro,” indicated West was mentally unstable and suggested that African Americans wanted to trade him in a “racial draft.”
“Black folks are about to trade Kanye West in the racial draft, OK. They’ve had it with him,” she said.
